Detailed Site Investigation Report

The Detailed Site Investigation (DSI) Report is a comprehensive environmental assessment that involves the sampling and analysis of soil, groundwater, and sometimes vapour to confirm the presence, nature, and extent of contamination on a site. It builds on the findings of a Preliminary Site Investigation (PSI) and provides the data required to assess risks to human health and the environment.

Key Components

  • Intrusive Investigation: Collection of soil, groundwater, and/or vapour samples through drilling, excavation, or monitoring wells.
  • Laboratory Analysis: Testing of samples to identify contaminants and their concentrations.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluation of potential risks to human health, ecosystems, and surrounding environments.
  • Extent of Contamination: Delineation of contamination both laterally and vertically across the site.

A DSI Report is essential for informed decision-making in contaminated land management, supporting remediation strategies, development approvals, and compliance with environmental regulations.
